Dr. Ross Valdez, our Chief of Staff, founded Park Heights Animal Care Center in 1981. Originally from Tuscon, Arizona, he now resides in Fruitland Park, Florida. Dr. Valdez attended the University of Arizona for undergrad and later earned a DVM degree at Colorado State University. Prior to working at Park Heights Animal Care Center, he also worked at Camelot Animal Hospital in Belleview, Florida. Dr. Valdez has special veterinary interests in orthopedic surgery.

At home he has three dogs and two cats. In his spare time, Dr. Valdez enjoys sailing, power boating, salt water fishing, traveling, sightseeing, and going to the beach. He also likes spending time at his cabin on the beautiful Sante Fe river.

Dr. Candice Manganaro began working at Park Heights Animal Care Center in 2011. She was born in Ontario, Canada, but grew up in Ocala, Florida beginning at the age of 7. Dr. Manganaro now lives in Fruitland Park. She earned an undergraduate degree at the University of Central Florida and later, a DVM degree from the University of Florida. Previously, Dr. Manganaro practiced at Banfield, Safe Haven Veterinary Hospital. She has special veterinary interests in internal pet medicine.

At home, Dr. Manganaro has several pets including Church, a hound mix, X (the Eliminator) and Peanut, both beagles, as well as Fatty McGee, a kitty. In her free time, Dr. Manganaro enjoys baking and spending time with her husband and children. She enjoys lots of 'nerdy' things like Star Trek, Marvel, etc. As your pet's veterinarian, Dr. Manganaro likes to be able to take her time in the exam room, in order to really understand her patient and any concerns from the owner.
